Single Secondary Campus Immersion
In Ysleta ISD, the Technology Immersion Project has immersed a single secondary campus in the district, in this case a middle school. Whereas the Grade 6-8 middle school segment of the immersion project is confined to middle school campuses serving grades 6-8 only (for research purposes), the single secondary model allows a campus serving any middle school grade range to participate in technology immersion. Ysleta ISD is a large urban school district located in El Paso. The TIP project in this district is serving approximately 660 students and 40 teachers at Hillcrest Middle School (Grades 7 and 8). Ysleta ISD is committed to ensuring academic success at Hillcrest Middle School by using a technology-infused curriculum and a constructivist approach to teaching and learning despite a student population that is heavily economically disadvantaged.
